Uluru National Park, NT
I have photographed Ayers Rock on several occasions, usually from fairly close up or from the sunset view area. On this occasion I decided to go walkabout through the spinifex laden sand dunes. I crossed a number of sand ridges with each one being higher than the previous one until I eventually ended up with a sand dune that provided a great view back to Uluru. I waited for the sun to get low but not too low as otherwise the red sand would have been in shadow. This photograph puts Uluru very nicely into the context of its surroundings and the beautiful sky adds to the drama of this late afternoon view.
